Key points for the meeting will include:

  • An update on our work on Foreign Interference (Bill C-70), the Online Harms Act (Bill C-63) and RCMP/CBSA review (Bill C-20);
  • The ongoing impact of counter-terrorism measures on international assistance and the implementation of the new “authorization” regime, with guest speaker Asma Faizi, lawyer and president of the Afghan Women’s Organization;
  • The repression of support for Palestinian human rights in Canada, with Khaled Al-Qazzaz of the Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council;
  • Presenting Defending Civil Liberties in an Age of Counter-terrorism and National Security: 20th anniversary publication of the ICLMG.

A few notes for the meeting:

  • If you are participating in person, we will be providing beverages, snacks and lunch. To help us cover the costs, we are once again asking for a contribution of $20 per participant.
  • Contributions can be sent by e-transfer after registration to national.coordination@iclmg.ca.
  • There is both some dedicated parking as well as street parking at the CAUT, but we also encourage those who can take public transit to do so
